To maintain a high level of oil and gas production, it is necessary to constantly replenish the reserves of oil companies.
At each stage of the development of oil and gas assets, geological exploration works are carried out, which make it possible to open new fields and clarify the boundaries of existing ones.
Scientists of Perm Polytechnic University have developed probabilistic and statistical models for predicting the oil content of deposits, which will help to efficiently search and geometrize deposits. As part of the study, scientists analyzed the impact on the oil content of the conditions under which the formation of oil and gas deposits took place. In most of the study area, oil content tends to areas that experienced a rise in the early stages of sedimentary cover formation. A connection was also established between the ancient relief of the reservoir and its oil content.
The construction of probabilistic and statistical models of the forecast of oil content by structural parameters allowed us to formulate a number of regularities that will be useful not only for further fundamental research, but also when designing wells for oil discovery in deep-lying strata. The regularities obtained with the help of regression models deepen the understanding of the processes of formation of mineral deposits.
— Replenishment of the resource base is and has always been one of the key activities of oil-producing enterprises in Russia and the world. Today, in conditions of high study of territories and high production rates, the problem of replenishing and increasing the resource potential of companies is very relevant and requires attention, – says Arseniy Shadrin, a graduate student of the Department of Oil and Gas Geology.
