February gas production increased, while domestic demand and the effect of last year’s low base contribute to the growth of blue fuel production.
In February of this year, Russian gas production increased by 13.8% to 64.5 billion cubic meters. In the first two months, the extraction of natural gas in the country increased by 10%, to 131.5 billion cubic meters, says the newspaper «Kommersant».
This year’s growth is mainly provided by Gazprom, which in February immediately increased its figures by 20% compared to last year — up to 44 billion cubic meters. In February, NOVATEK increased production by 2.5% a year to 6.5 billion cubic meters, and in 2 months by 4% to 13.7 billion cubic meters.
Rosneft’s February figures are 2.8% growth, LUKOIL’s increase is 3%. At the same time, Surgutneftegaz reduced production by 19%.
Experts explain the increase in the production of natural gas in the Russian Federation by the growing demand within the country and the effect of the low base of last year.
