Chukotka is preparing to develop new mineral deposits, which requires additional funds for exploration.
Vladislav Kuznetsov, Governor of the Chukotka Autonomous Okrug, said that 16 promising sites with mineral reserves have been discovered in the region, requiring detailed additional exploration. To carry out these works, it is necessary to attract more than 6 billion rubles, which are expected from the federal budget.
According to Kuznetsov, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia considers Chukotka as a priority region for exploration activities. In this regard, there is confidence that the necessary funds will be allocated.
The mining industry is key to the economy of Chukotka, providing the bulk of tax revenues. The region holds a leading position in the Far Eastern Federal District in gold mining, and also has significant reserves of other valuable metals and hydrocarbons.
