The country has developed and approved GOST standards for the production of alternative fuels from household waste. The new standards are aimed at resource conservation and regulation of waste recycling processes for the needs of the metallurgical and cement industries.

According to Denis Butsaev, General Director of the REO, the new standards expand the field of handling various types of waste, including sorted municipal solid waste. It is assumed that the remnants of such waste will be processed into alternative fuels and used in metallurgical production.

This initiative strengthens Russian efforts to implement modern environmental standards and improve resource efficiency.
